Pick-a-jar Stall

One of the most popular stalls at the Weetangera Primary School Fete is the pick-a-jar stall.

How does it work?

It's like a lucky dip/tombola. There are jars filled with goodies and wrapped so that the contents can't be seen and numbered. The child draws a random number out of a tub and then is given the jar with the matching number. Then they get to unwrap it and discover what is hidden inside! It's lots of fun and sells out early every year.

What do we need?

We are aiming to have more than 1,000 jars on the day. To achieve this we need one filled and wrapped jar per Weetangera primary or preschool student. If you can, we encourage you to donate two jars (or more)!

This year we are hoping to create excitement in the classrooms about this stall in the lead up to the fete. We have one large pick-a-jar filled with treats for the class that collects the most jars! We'll leave a class record sheet next to pick up zones so we can keep a record of this.

What sort of things can we put inside?

Just about anything that you think a primary school aged child would enjoy! Lollies, small chocolates, salty snacks (no nuts please), small stationary items, pencils, hair ties, small toys, collectables, small toiletry items, hand creams, lip balms, Christmas decorations or fidget toys. If you'd put it in a birthday party bag or offer to Halloween trick or treaters it would be perfect. Please make sure that all of the items are in new condition, and please no joke items - we want happy children at our fete!

What do I wrap the jar in?

Wrapping paper, newspaper, cloth, children's drawings, you name it. Your imagination is the limit!

When do we need them by?

Donations can be made any time from now until the weekend of the fete. There are collection boxes in each of the units, pre-school and the front office.
